Description

Supervisor, Roads Maintenance (2 Positions)
Public Works Department

Position Type/ Hours: These are permanent full-time positions working thirty-five (35) hours per week.

Position Description: • Manage the resources (e.g., human resource management and financial management) within the Roads Maintenance function.
• Supervise the daily operations.
• Participate in the development and implementation of business plans and operational budgets applying the participatory leadership concept.
• Co-ordinate, analyze and prepare recommendations relative to all roads maintenance activities.
• Participate in the development and implementation of program goals, objectives, measures, outcomes and prepare related reports.
• Recommend and implement measures for improving long range roads maintenance initiatives.
• Develop, maintain and monitor customer service standards and make recommendations as required.
• Consult with and inform the public, community user groups, and other stakeholders.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Degree in Civil Engineering with five (5) years experience.
Or
• Diploma in Civil Engineering with seven (7) years experience.
• Canadian Public Works Supervisory Certification, ASET Certification or Certified Roads Supervisor – Intermediate is preferred.
• Class five (5) Alberta driver’s license.
• Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills.
• Proven ability to deal effectively and courteously with members of the public, staff and public utility agencies.
• Knowledge and experience in project organization including request for proposals, tendering, bidding, selection, insurance, contract award and administration.
• Risk management knowledge and an understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Current First Aid, CPR and WHIMIS certificates.

 

Salary & Benefits

Pay / Classification Level: CL 12


Salary Range: $105,004 (Starting Range) – $134,211
