Description

Foreman, Water Treatment Plant
Environmental Services Department

Position Type/ Hours: This is a permanent full-time position working forty (40) hours per week.

Position Description: Under general supervision, ensure water and wastewater analysis are carried out according to provincial standards. In plant operations, direct staff involved in the operation of Water Treatment and Wastewater Facilities to ensure compliance with Canadian Drinking Water Standards and Federal and Provincial Regulations.


 

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Grade twelve (12) diploma or GED equivalency.
• Post-Secondary Diploma (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Studies) is an asset.
• Current Alberta Environment's Certification Program, Level III Water Treatment and Level I Wastewater Treatment, unrestricted Certificates are required. Level IV Water Treatment is preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years direct operating experience in a modern Level III Water Treatment facility.
• Minimum of two (2) years at supervisory level in a modern Level III Treatment facility.
• Demonstrable proficiency in the operation of personal computers, ability to prepare budgets, and technical reports.
• Valid class five (5) Alberta drivers license (clear driving record an asset).
• Proven leadership, planning, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Must be willing to work outdoors, in all weather conditions and in an unsanitary environment.
• Must be medically and physically fit to perform of the duties of the job daily.
• Immunizations strongly recommended.

 

Salary & Benefits

Pay / Classification Level: PL 20*


Salary Range: $44.52 (Probationary Rate)
$48.90 – $52.53 (Permanent Rates)
*Rates adjusted to reflect market conditions*
