Description

The City of St. Catharines, with a population of 132, 000, is located in the heart of the Niagara Region. We are currently seeking applications for a Facilities Technologist.


Summary of duties: As assigned, to assist in the planning, budgeting, designing, cost estimations and construction administration of rehabilitation, preventive maintenance and new construction for various facilities and to assist in preparation of and carry out building condition surveys and to provide facilities service information to other departments and the public.

 

Requirements

Certified Engineering Technologist and/or Architectural Technologist



▪ Five years of progressively responsible experience in the area of Mechanical/Electrical engineering with emphasis on the design, construction, and maintenance and estimating of costs for buildings and equipment ▪ Working knowledge of microcomputer systems, graphic work stations or CAD including application of relevant software packages



▪ Five years of progressively responsible HVAC experience with the operation of boilers, make up air units, radiant heat and exhaust air systems ▪ Working knowledge of BAS (Building Automation Systems) controls or other related building software systems



▪ Working knowledge of swipe access or related access control systems to be considered an asset



▪ Ability to visualize the assigned work and to organize and plan accordingly ▪ Ability to work alone with minimum supervision



▪ Ability to express oneself clearly, orally and in writing with demonstrated report writing skills



▪ Ability to work effectively with other staff, contractors and consultants.
 

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $56,747 - $63,730 per year (under review)
