Description

Social Planning Supervisor
Community Services Department

Position Type/ Hours:
This is a permanent full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week.


Position Description:
• Develop social policy and programs based on the conduct of community needs assessment and studies in social impact analysis.
• Co-ordinate, analyze and prepare recommendations relative to the FCSS Social Planning stream of Neighbourhood & Community Development.
• Implement social research and evaluate methods to assess the quality of a program or service and identify service/program gaps.
• Analyze information, write reports on social services issues, and disseminate information collected.
• Recommend and implement measures for improving services.
• Participate in business planning and long range planning for the N&CD Branch to meet the social needs and aspirations of diverse communities in the Region.
• Co-ordinate initiatives of community, government, and non profit organizations in implementation of social development/planning solutions.
• Participate in the Disaster Social Services Response.
• Manage the resources in the Social Planning unit of FCSS within the Neighbourhood & Community Development Branch.
• Supervise the daily operations related to this unit.
• Participate in the development and implementation of business plans, business cases and operational budgets.
• Directly supervise staff, oversee and administrate contracts.
• Review and make appropriate changes to all pertinent reports prior to submission to the Manager.
• Prepare and monitor projects and related operating budgets.
• Consult with and inform the public, community, and other stakeholders as required.
• Receive customer queries related to this function and determine appropriate response.


 

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in the study of Anthropology, Social Work, Social Sciences or Urban Planning.
• Certification in project management is preferred.
• Five (5) years of directly related experience.
• Two (2) Years experience in leading or supervising a Social Planning Program and/or Agency. Direct supervision of subordinates is an asset.


 

Salary & Benefits

Pay / Classification Level: CL 11



Salary Range: $99,223 (Starting Range) - $126,758
