The City of New Westminster, Parks, Culture & Recreation currently requires energetic, self motivated, team players to join our team of auxiliary instructors in various positions Recreation Worker – Instructors (Sport, Arts & Crafts and Dance) to join our team of professionals in the Recreation Culture and parks Division. These auxiliary positions’ hours of work are varied. It is essential that the ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, is energetic and enthusiastic, is well organized plus is able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of internal and external contacts.

| Requirements |
|
All positions require: completion of Grade 10 and valid Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate – updated every two years. A minimum of 1 year program leadership experience is preferred.
Sports Instructors – Successful candidates must have the ability to provide leadership for a variety of recreation programs and activities. Applicants must have the ability to plan and lead structured programs with a focus on a variety of sports skills in a recreational setting. Level 1 Coaching certification is desirable but not a requirement.
Art & Craft Instructors – Successful candidates must have the ability to provide leadership for a variety of recreation programs and activities. Applicants must have the ability to plan and lead structured programs with a focus on the arts and craft skills in a recreational setting.
Dance Instructors – Successful candidates must have the ability to providing leadership for a variety of recreation programs and activities. Applicants must be able to instruct a variety of dance styles (Break Dancing, Hip Hop). Previous instructional dance courses or experience is required.

| Salary & Benefits |
|
This position offers a starting hourly rate of $19.58 plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Please note that the qualified candidates must be available during the weekends, weekdays and evenings.
