Chief Operating Officer
Pictou County Shared Services Authority

The Municipality of the County of Pictou, together with the Towns of Pictou, New Glasgow, Stellarton, Trenton and Westville have jointly formed the Pictou County Shared Services Authority to oversee solid waste management, waste water management, planning and development, and by-law enforcement.

As Chief Operating Officer, you will report to a Board of Directors comprised of the Mayors and Warden of the respective municipalities, and be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Authority. In this role, you will serve a diverse group of stakeholders including the Board, staff, various municipal units, and the community at large, and manage a combined budget of approximately $7 million and a staff of 35 people.
 

Requirements

As the ideal candidate, you possess appropriate academic and professional credentials and have several years’ experience in municipal government. Alternatively, you have senior level experience in other levels of government or in business. You have a demonstrated understanding of local government issues and, in particular, are sensitive to the relationship that exists between elected bodies and senior administration on strategic and management issues.

With a successful track record of career accomplishments, you possess well-developed personal leadership qualities including communication and interpersonal skills. In particular, you are skillful in human resource management and will support all departmental managers and staff in achieving their job performance objectives. A collaborative and consultative approach to doing business is essential in this role.
